Arenal is one of the few areas in Costa Rica that connects with just about anything. It is half-way about equal distance from San Jose airport (in central Costa Rica) and the Liberia airport (in the northwest Guanacaste region). Arenal is conveniently linked to Monteverde, Tamarindo, Nosara, Papagayo, The Pacuare River, Tortuguero, the Central Highlands, Jaco/Playa Herradura, and Manuel Antonio. With a short flight (scheduled or private), Arenal can connect with more remote areas like the Osa Peninsula, the South Pacific, and Santa Teresa.
