OVERVIEW

Our Hot Springs Hideaway vacation is the perfect mix of adventure and indulgence. After an energetic start with whitewater rafting, spend the next two days appreciating the glory of nature around Arenal Volcano. Hike Arenal Volcano and discover the forest surrounding the volcano on hanging bridges before traveling to Tamarindo Beach on the Pacific Coast. Continue the adventure with a Rio Perdido Adventure and mangrove kayak. Finally, settle in with the sand between your toes before heading back to the real world!

DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1
Arrive San Jose, Costa Rica
Upon arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica transfer to Hotel Grano de Oro for overnight. Once a Victorian mansion, this hotel features one of San Jose's finest restaurants and a stunning rooftop garden terrace with lounging chairs and two spa tubs. The ambiance and warmth of a private home comes through with period photographs, original artwork, and colorful tropical flora.
Day 2
Pacuare River Whitewater Rafting: Class III-IV
Early morning pick-up from hotel and transfer to put-in point for breakfast and a brief safety talk before launching on an exhilarating 16-mile adventure! The Pacuare offers some of the best whitewater in the world – a tropical river that combines a beautiful ride deep into the virgin rainforest with pounding rapids. Paddle exciting rapids before take out where you will have a chance to dry off.


After the tour, you will transfer to the Tabacon Grand Spa & Thermal Resort. A traveler's favorite, Tabacon combines stunning views of the Arenal Volcano with an abundance of activities and unbeatable natural cool and hot springs. Besides having one of the world's best spas, this luxury resort has been repeatedly recognized for amazing service and an atmosphere than can only be described as "paradise."

Day 3
Guided Arenal Hanging Bridges Walk
Located within a corridor followed by birds migrating between North and South America, these trails and miraculous hanging bridges will bring you closer than you could imagine to an array of wild animals, birds, flowers and lush vegetation of the primary and secondary rainforest. 8 fixed bridges and 6 hanging bridges form this intriguing exploration. Day 4
Arenal Volcano Hike
Your adventure begins on the Western side of Arenal Volcano. Embark on a hike traversing the rainforest and crossing over lava flow from 1992. Discover a variety of lava rock formations, flora, and fauna. At the top of the lava flow, enjoy incredible views of Arenal Lake. , Your professional naturalist guide will share interesting history and facts about Arenal Volcano National Park along the way. Day 5
Transfer to Tamarindo Beach, Guanacaste
Today, transfer about 4 hours to Tamarindo, Guanacaste on the North Pacific Coast. Arrive at Hotel Capitan Suizo for overnight. This luxury hotel combines upscale accommodations and breathtaking coastal views with Tamarindo adventure. Enjoy gorgeous ocean sunsets every night from your balcony or along Tamarindo Beach.
Day 6
Rio Perdido Thermal River Adventure
Pick up early this morning for a drive through Guanacaste to Rio Perdido Thermal River. Once you arrive, begin with a scenic guided hike, but wear your swimsuit! On the hike, you'll have the opportunity to take a dip in a variety of streams and pools with temperatures ranging from 90 - 115 degrees F. After exploring the springs, grab a bite to eat at the restaurant. After lunch, discover the adventures of Rio Perdido. Cross a hanging bridge, lounge in thermal pools with a swim-up bar, and enjoy panoramic views of the dry forest and volcanic range. Rio Blanco Canyon is an adventure playground. It includes 15 aerial platforms, a Tarzan swing, a hanging bridge, via ferrates, and ziplines. Overnight Hotel Capitan Suizo.
Day 7
Tamarindo Mangrove Kayak
This 3-hour kayaking tour is a great way to discover the flora and fauna of this mangrove ecosystem. A professional naturalist guide will point out the wildlife native to Tamarindo. After paddling, enjoy a snack on the river bed before continuing on through the mangroves. Overnight Hotel Capitan Suizo.
Day 8
Tamarindo Free Day
Tamarindo is one of the best places to surf in Costa Rica. Rent a surfboard or simply relax by the sea. Overnight Hotel Capitan Suizo.
Day 9
Depart Liberia, Costa Rica
This morning transfer approximately 1 hour to the Liberia international airport for your return flight home.
