What are the roads like in Costa Rica?

Costa Rica is roughly the size of West Virginia, but the roads are not the same quality as the United States. This typically makes travel times longer. You are likely to encounter roads with potholes, slow-moving traffic on 2-lane highways, and other inconveniences. Remote areas may be more difficult to access by car during the green season.
