Should I rent a 4×4 in Costa Rica?

If you are headed south on the Pacific Coast to Uvita or down to the Osa Peninsula, a 4×4 rental car is recommended. A 4×4 is also recommended for travelers visiting Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve as many roads are unpaved.
