Day 1
Transfer to Costa Rica Marriott, San Jose
Upon arrival in San Jose, meet your driver for transfer approximately 25 minutes to your hotel. Note: transfer times may vary during high-volume travel periods.
Arrive at the Costa Rica Marriott Hacienda Belen Hotel for overnight. Set on a 30-acre coffee plantation, this charming colonial hacienda offers a blend of unique architecture and elegant antiques. Day 2
Domestic Flight to Aguila de Osa Inn, Drake Bay
Early this morning, transfer by approximately 3 hours to the airport in San Jose. This morning you will transfer to the airport in San Jose. Check in for a short flight to Drake Bay on the remote Osa Peninsula. Upon arrival, take a short transfer by ground and boat to Aguila de Osa Inn for overnight. *Please wear shoes that are easily removable or can get wet, as you will enter or exit the boat into knee-deep water.
Nestled in a private rainforest cove where the Aguijitas River meets Drake Bay, the lodge offers rooms perched high above the water’s edge. The spacious rooms feature mesh windows, allowing the tropical breeze to flow freely. Guests can explore the surrounding waterways with a complimentary kayak or take a hike along the nearby Drake Trail to uncover rugged beaches along the rainforest coast. Please note: Some rooms are located at the highest point of the property and involve a bit of stair-climbing.
Day 3
Corcovado National Park Guided Hike
This morning, take a 45-minute to 1-hour boat ride to the entrance of Corcovado National Park, which spans over 100,000 acres and is home to many endangered species. Wander through the pristine tropical rainforest, where you’ll encounter an array of wildlife, including tropical birds, butterflies, monkeys, sloths, and more. After a quick snack at the ranger station, embark on another trail that leads to a secluded waterfall, where you may have the chance to take a refreshing dip (weather permitting). Then, return by boat to the lodge for a delicious lunch. Overnight at Aguila de Osa Inn.
Day 4
Cano Island Biological Reserve Snorkeling Tour
Cano Island is a sought-after spot for SCUBA diving and snorkeling, especially for those wanting to see large fish. From December to April, humpback whales migrate from their Alaskan feeding grounds, and manta rays can be spotted between February and June. Take a 45-minute boat ride to Cano Island, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the vibrant underwater world at one of Costa Rica’s top snorkeling locations. After your aquatic adventure, enjoy a picnic lunch before returning by boat. Overnight at Aguila de Osa Inn. (Certified divers can opt for a full-day SCUBA diving tour at an additional cost).
Day 5
Osa Peninsula Free Day
Hike the Drake Trail, which winds through the lodge property and leads to secluded beaches along the rugged coastline. Along the way, you may encounter monkeys, Scarlet macaws, and other wildlife. Complimentary kayaks are available for exploring the surrounding waterways. For additional tours and experiences, the lodge concierge is happy to assist. Overnight at Aguila de Osa Inn.
Day 6
Transfer to Los Iguana, Arenal Volcano
This morning, transfer by ground to the airport in Drake Bay. Check in for your flight to San Jose. Upon arrival, meet your driver for transfer by ground approximately 3 hours to the Arenal Volcano area.
Arrive at the Lost Iguana Resort. Set within a 100-acre rainforest reserve, the resort boasts stunning views of the volcano. Guests can explore miles of hiking trails at their own pace and enjoy a pool nestled amidst lush forest surroundings. Please note: Lost Iguana Resort is located in a peaceful, secluded area, about 15 minutes from Arenal’s main roads. The hotel concierge is available to assist with restaurant reservations, taxi services, and local tours.
Day 7
Rio Balsa Whitewater Rafting Class II – III
The Balsa River features Class II and III rapids, making it suitable for both first-time paddlers and those seeking a more challenging experience. The river’s flow is typical of the Northern Zone of Costa Rica, with continuous Class III rapids and small pools in between during the first half, followed by calmer rapids perfect for wildlife watching in the second half. Flowing through the rainforest’s lowlands, the Balsa River offers stunning views of the natural surroundings, where you may encounter tropical birds and various mammals. Day 8
Pure Trek Waterfall Canyoning
Embark on an exciting trek through the forest, following trails that lead to some of Costa Rica’s most stunning waterfalls. Uncover hidden secrets deep within the canyon using specialized techniques and mountaineering equipment. After a brief safety briefing, you’ll gear up and begin a short hike to the top of the first waterfall to begin your descent. Experience five rappels—four along waterfalls and one dry rock face—ranging from 20 to 50 meters in height, all designed to get your heart racing! Prepare for vertical water, lush jungle surroundings, undisturbed wildlife, and an exhilarating adventure! Overnight at Lost Iguana Resort.
Day 9
Aerial Tram & Trek Zipline
Hop aboard the Sky Tram for stunning views of the Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal as you ascend to your ziplining adventure. The tram ride ends at an observation platform, the highest point of the Arenal Reserve, where you’ll receive a brief safety briefing from your guides before venturing into the canopy. The Sky Trek is an exhilarating canopy tour featuring 7 zip-lines scattered throughout the forest. As you soar through the treetops, take in the breathtaking views of Lake Arenal and the majestic volcano. The ziplines range from 30 to 750 meters in length and 20 to 200 meters in height, allowing you to fly above the tallest trees and enjoy panoramic vistas. Depart San Jose, Costa Rica
