Dec 25: Transfer to San Jose, Costa Rica
Upon arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica transfer to Hotel Grano de Oro for overnight. Grano de Oro is a highlight in the San Jose and Central Valley for its delicious cuisine - a fusion of tropical and European delicacies.
Dec 26: Transfer to Tortuguero National Park
This morning you will be picked up for a 4 hour transfer to jungles of Tortuguero on the Northern Caribbean Coast for overnight at Mawamba Lodge.
Dec 27: Tortuguero Free Day
Grab some Costa Rican coffee and take an optional day tour this morning through the jungle canals. Be on the lookout for wildlife that are often most active in the early hours of the day. Don't forget breakfast after the tour! After breakfast, make a visit to Mawamba Park to see the butterfly, frog, and iguana farms. Overnight at Mawamba Lodge.
Dec 28: Transfer to San Ramon Cloud Forest
Today transfer by ground approximately 2.5 hours to the Los Angeles Cloud Forest near San Ramon for overnight at Hotel Villa Blanca. Located within a 75 acre Private Biological Reserve, Villa Blanca is perfect for nature enthusiasts. Miles of trails on the Reserve are perfect for exploring abundant nature and wildlife.
Dec 29: Arenal Volcano & Ecotermales Hot Springs Tour
This morning, you will be picked up for a drive through the San Carlos plains. Your guide will describe the unique agriculture of the region along the way. You'll stop off in the town of La Fortuna, the largest town in the Arenal region. Next, walk around Arenal Volcano to discuss its nature and history. Last, visit the natural hot springs heated by the volcano before lunch. Overnight Hotel Villa Blanca.
Dec 30: San Luis Hanging Bridges Hike
The San Luis Hanging Bridges Hike is just 45 minutes from the hotel. Explore the tropical forest over a series of six hanging bridges and trails. Your naturalist guide will unveil the unique symbiotic relationships of the forest and the wildlife that live in it. After your forest tour, visit the butterfly and hummingbird garden before returning to Hotel Villa Blanca.
Dec 31: Transfer to Santa Juana, Southern Mountains
Today you will be met and transferred approximately 3 hours to Santa Juana Lodge in the southern mountains. This rural, rustic mountain lodge showcases the unique flora, fauna and culture of the Costa Rica countryside. Enjoy panoramic views of the coast and Fila Chona Mountain Range from your private treehouse-style casita.
Jan 1: Santa Juana Mountain Tour
Hike through the forest, and discover fascinating regional wildlife. Hike to a hidden waterfall, or try Tilapia fishing. At the end of a fun-filled morning, enjoy an authentic Campesino-style lunch. Overnight Santa Juana Lodge.
Jan 2: Canopy Zipline Safari
There are ten canopy ziplines, two rappels, one Tarzan swing, a suspension bridge, and over 18 platforms on the canopy safari adventure on Rainforest Mountain. Explore winding rainforest trails full of wildlife like frogs, toucans, monkeys. Experience the thrill of an aerial adventure as you discover the forest canopy platform to platform. Jan 3: Depart San Jose, Costa Rica
This morning transfer approximately 4 hours to the San Jose International Airport for your return flight home.
