Dec 28: Transfer to Naranjo, Costa Rica
Today transfer by ground approximately 1 hour to Chayote Lodge on the outskirts of the Central Valley. In the cozy main lodge, enjoy delicious fusine dining and a bar frequented by friendly locals. Enjoy views of Poas, Barva, and Irazu Volcanoes from the private viewing terrace of your bungalow.
Dec 29: Poas Volcano Tour
Two hours from Chayote Lodge, Poas Volcano is located in the Volcanic Central Range. It's known as the widest volcanic crater in the world. Explore the workings of the volcanoe's geological cycle. Weather permitting, take a short walk to the crater and continue your exploration on the trails of the park to Botos Lagoon, a former crater in the cloud forest. After visiting the volcano, descent to Fraijanes for a Costa Rican lunch. On the way back to CHayote Lodge, pass sugar cane and coffee plantations and stops at the metal church of Grecia and the artisan village of Sarchi. Overnight Chayote Lodge.
Dec 30: Del Toro Waterfall Hike
The Del Toro Waterfall drops a staggering 400 feet into a multi-colored canyon where shades of red clay blend with green moss and dense vegetation. Trek the winding trail 400 steps down to the roaring mist of the waterfall to take it all in. Overnight Chayote Lodge.
Dec 31: Transfer to Santa Teresa, Nicoya Peninsula
Today you will return to San Jose for a short domestic flight to Tambor. Upon arrival, transfer by ground approximately 45 minutes to Nantipa Resort in Santa Teresa on the Nicoya Peninsula. The newest property in Santa Teresa, Nantipa is the only boutique, luxury beachfront hotel in the area with free-standing bungalows and direct access to a vibrant beach town with plenty of options for dining, shopping, and wildlife
Jan 1: Tortuga Island
The adventure begins with a 45-minute boat ride out to Tortuga Island. Be on the lookout for humpback and pilot whales, turtles, jumping manta rays, and dolphins. At Tortuga Island, snorkel in the volcanic rock reef, home to Porcupinefish, Spotted Eagle Rays, Angelfish, and more. Then, relax on the island's white-sand beaches and enjoy lunch. Jan 1: Montezuma Waterfall Canopy Tour
This canopy zipline excursion consists of 9 cables and 13 platforms suspended high above the rainforest floor. You will encounter a number of unique flora and fauna in the area. Jan 4: Depart San Jose, Costa Rica
Today, you will be picked up and driven to the local Tambor airport for a short flight to San Jose where you will connect with your international flight home.
