OVERVIEW

Our 11-night Costa Rica Holiday Adventure features the Osa Peninsula rainforest, Arenal Volcano, the Pacuare River, and downtown San Jose.

DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1
Transfer to Costa Rica Marriott Hacienda Belen, San Jose
Upon arrival in San Jose, meet your driver for a transfer to Costa Rica Marriott Hacienda Belen Hotel for overnight. The hotel is a beautiful colonial hacienda situated on a 30-acre coffee plantation. Captivating grounds, exceptional service, and a relaxing ambiance are definitive of this hotel.
Day 2
Transfer to Aguila de Osa Inn, Osa Peninsula
This morning you will transfer to the airport in San Jose. Check-in for a short flight to Drake Bay on the remote Osa Peninsula. Arrive at Aguila de Osa Inn for overnight. The lodge is located between the tropical rainforest, where the Aguijitas river meets Drake Bay. Resting high above the water's edge, the rooms are open and spacious with mesh windows to ensure a tropical breeze passes through. In the evenings, enjoy happy hour at the bar, and, throughout your stay, enjoy your meals served family-style in the open-air restaurant.
Day 3
Corcovado National Park Guided Hike
This morning, take a boat 45 minutes – 1 hour to the entrance of Corcovado National Park, which protects many endangered species of the area. Traverse the virgin rainforest looking for tropical birds, butterflies, insects, several species of monkeys, sloths, and more. Enjoy a picnic lunch after your first hike, and then head out on a second trail that ends with a swim in a waterfall (weather permitting). Then, return by boat, arriving in the late afternoon. Day 4
Snorkeling Tour of Cano Island Biological Reserve
The island is a popular destination for SCUBA diving and snorkeling.. Between December and April, humpback whales come from their Alaskan feeding grounds. Head out by boat on a 45-minute ride to Cano Island to explore the underwater scenery. After your time on the water, enjoy a picnic lunch before heading back by boat. Overnight Aguila de Osa Inn. (Certified divers can substitute a full-day SCUBA diving tour at additional cost).
Day 5
Osa Peninsula Free Day
Complimentary kayaks are provided for those who want to explore the waterways around the lodge, and a nearby rainforest trail allows guests to hike to nearby rugged beaches. Overnight Aguila de Osa Inn.
Day 6
Transfer to Lost Iguana, Arenal Volcano
Today, you will take domestic flight back to San Jose. Upon arrival, you will be met and driven approximately 3 hours to Lost Iguana Resort at Arenal Volcano. The resort is set on a 100-acre rainforest reserve with dramatic volcano views. Enjoy trails and a pool surrounded by the forest.
Day 7
Pure Trek Canyoning
Hike through forest trails to some of Costa Rica's most incredible waterfalls. Begin with a safety briefing before setting out to the first fall. There are five rappels in total: four along a waterfall and one along a bare-faced canyon. Heights range from 50 to 20 meters. Overnight Lost Iguana Resort.
Day 8
Arenal Hanging Bridges Hike & Paco's Horseback Riding
The Arenal Hanging Bridges are an ecotourism project of trails with bridges focused on observing and protecting nature. The private nature reserve has nearly 250 hectares of tropical rainforest with a variety of animals, flowers, and vegetation. A professional naturalist guide will lead you over eight fixed bridges and six hanging bridges searching for wildlife.

After the hike, enjoy a horseback ride with Paco's Horses. Enjoy the density of the forest and beautiful pastures along the trail located in the hills of the park, where you'll enjoy the best view of Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal. Overnight Lost Iguana Resort.
Day 9
Arenal Sky Tram & Trek Canopy Zipline
Board the Sky Tram, a cableway bringing you up through the forest canopy to an observational platform overlooking Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal. From here, depart on the Sky Trek zipline adventure, which consists of 8 cross-sectional cables totaling 4.5 miles in length and a maximum height of 660 feet. Overnight Lost Iguana Resort.
Day 10
Transfer to Rios Lodge, Pacuare River Whitewater Rafting Exepdition Class III-IV
Today, depart for a 2-hour drive to Rios Lodge Operations Center. Enjoy breakfast and store excess luggage in the on-site lockers. You'll want to take a smaller bag/backpack for your river lodge overnight. After breakfast, head to the river where guides will load bags and share safety instructions. The first Class III rapids will bring you deep into the heart of the primary forest. Guides will then prepare lunch on the riverbank while you explore the surrounding forest. Then, continue on down the river. Arrive at Rios Lodge. Enjoy the afternoon hiking,r leaxing, or exploring hidden waterfalls near your rooms. The lodge is set on a 1000-acre private jungle reserve.
Day 11
Transfer to Gran Hotel, San Jose
After breakfast, paddle down the Pacuare River gorge past picturesque waterfalls and pounding rapids. An afternoon running the river's most thrilling rapids will get your adrenaline pumping! At the river tak-out, transfer back to the Rios Lodge Operations Center for lunch. Collection your bags before being met and transferred approximately 2 hours to the Gran Hotel in the heart of downtown San Jose.

Located on the pedestrian boulevard, Avenida Central, Gran Hotel overlooks the National Theatre and is steps from shops, cafes, museums, and other top capital attractions. Colonial beauty and modern technology meet at this charming hotel.
Day 12
Depart San Jose, Costa Rica
Today transfer by ground the San Jose international airport for your return flight home.

Pricing is valid through the date listed for each itinerary (all pricing is subject to change until booked and confirmed). Holiday season supplements apply for Christmas, New Years, Presidents Day, and Easter travel dates. Green season specials and/or lower rates may apply for May to November travel dates.

All itineraries are land only and international airfare is quoted separately. Itinerary adjustments may be necessary depending on your international flight schedule. For example a late arrival will usually require a night near the airport in San Jose.
