DAILY ITINERARY
Day 1
Transfer to Arenal Manoa Resort, Arenal Resort
Upon your arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica transfer by ground for approximately 3 hours to the Arenal Volcano area. Although the volcano is currently in a resting phase, the region offers an abundance of exciting opportunities. Arrive at the Hotel Arenal Manoa, the perfect base for adventure in Arenal. Spacious gardens and lovely pathways in view of Arenal Volcano give it an added charm. An on-site farm recalls the agricultural roots of the area.
Day 2
Pure Trek Canyoning
Discover some of the most spectacular waterfalls in Costa Rica with the aid of specialized techniques and mountaineering equipment. Start with a safety talk before hiking to the first waterfall. There are five rappels: one on a dry rock face and four along waterfalls. Overnight Hotel Arenal Manoa.
Day 3
Rio Balsa Whitewater Rafting Class II-III
The Balsa River offers a range of class II and class III for every experience level. The flow of this river is typical of most rivers in the Northern Zone of Costa Rica: continuous class II rapids with small pools for rests between in the first half and less intense rapids in the second half (great for wildlife watching). Day 4
Transfer by boat to Hotel El Establo, Monteverde
This morning, transfer from Arenal to Monteverde by boat. First, you will be driven to the boat dock at the Arenal Dam. Then, board a comfortable pontoon boat for a 45-minute ride to the Rio Chiquito dock. Upon arrival, ground transfer approximately 1.5-2 hours to El Establo Hotel outside the Monteverde Cloud Forest. El Establo Hotel is set on a private 150-acre farm next to the reserve. On a clear day, enjoy views of the mountainous area and even views of the Gulf of Nicoya on a clear day.
Day 5
Monteverde Sky Tram, Trek Zipline & Walk Guided Tour
Begin your day on the Sky Tram cable car. Take in a bird's eye view of the cloud forest as you ascend up through the canopy. the tram ends at a wide observation platform where you will stop off, take photos, and admire the view!
Then, enjoy the Sky Trek, a system of ziplines that will allow you to glide through and above the treetops. The tour includes 2 very long cables and 11 cross-sectional cables. Overnight Hotel Arenal Manoa.
Last, enjoy Sky Walk, a guided tour perfect for lovers of nature. Look for flora, fauna, and vibrant birds on a trail with 6-suspension bridges. Overnight El Establo Hotel.
Day 6
Don Juan Coffee, Chocolate, & Sugar Cane Plantation Tour / Night Hike
Explore the world of coffee, chocolate, and sugarcane production in Costa Rica. Begin with an introduction to the life cycle of the coffee plant. Learn how coffee cherries are picked, the way the pump was originally removed, and visit the drying patio and warehouse. Then, discover the cocoa pod, make your own chocolate using a traditional recipe, and taste! Try the traditional Costa Rican method of extracting sugar cane juice and do a taste test! Last, go to the restaurant for a cup of coffee and some souvenir shopping.
Explore the cloud forest by night. A guide will introduce the forest habitat and nocturnal species like frogs, insects, snakes, and owls. This is a slow-paced tour so that you might see wildlife up close. Overnight El Establo Hotel.
Day 7
Transfer to Hotel Si Como No, Manuel Antonio
Today, you will transfer by ground for approximately 5 hours to the Manuel Antonio / Quepos area on the Central Pacific coast. Arrive at Hotel Si Como No, an award-winning hotel combining environmentalism and barefoot luxury in a tropical rainforest overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Set on a hillside up above the sea, some stair climbing and light "hiking may be a part of your stay.
Day 8
PRIVATE Manuel Antonio National Park Hike
Manuel Antonio is Costa Rica's favorite national park. Discover three of the country's most beautiful white sand beaches bordered by rainforest trails teeming with wildlife. A naturalist guide will lead a moderate walk explaining the wonders of the national park and its natural history. There are about 109 known mammal species and 184 bird species in the park to discover. Don't forget a bathing suit and towel to enjoy the beaches after the tour! Overnight Hotel Si Como No.
Day 9
Afternoon Catamaran Tour
Enjoy a breathtaking sunset over the Pacific Ocean! You may even see humpback whales, dolphins or other marine life from the deck of the catamaran. On board, enjoy a variety of snacks and drinks. Day 10
Depart San Jose, Costa Rica
This morning you will transfer by ground approximately 3 hours to the international airport in San Jose for your afternoon or evening departure.
Pricing is valid through the date listed for each itinerary (all pricing is subject to change until booked and confirmed). Holiday season supplements apply for Christmas, New Years, Presidents Day, and Easter travel dates. Green season specials and/or lower rates may apply for May to November travel dates.
All itineraries are land only and international airfare is quoted separately. Itinerary adjustments may be necessary depending on your international flight schedule. For example a late arrival will usually require a night near the airport in San Jose.
