OVERVIEW

Our 8-night Sloth Safari Costa Rica vacation package will put you on the path to plentiful sloth encounters in Costa Rica! Begin at the charming Finca Rosa Coffee Plantation and Inn in Heredia outside the capital city of San Jose. From there, experience the Toucan Rescue Ranch. Then, head north to Arenal Volcano for an intimate stay at an award-winning boutique hotel with sloths living right on the property! In Arenal, experience a sloth-dedicated tour and hike through the rainforest across hanging bridges while exploring the tropical forest canopy, and visit La Fortuna Waterfall. Then, head to the most popular little park in Costa Rica, Manuel Antonio National Park to discover the wildlife of the rainforest on the coast!

DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1
Arrive Finca Rosa Blanca Coffee Plantation & Inn, Heredia
Upon arrival in San Jose, you will meet your driver for transfer about 25 minutes to Heredia, situated in the hills overlooking the Central Valley.

Arrive at the Finca Rosa Blanca Coffee Plantation and Inn for overnight. Nestled amid 10 acres of fruit trees and tropical flora. The inn offers spectacular views of the Central Valley below. It is renowned for inventive gourmet cuisine, prepared with ingredients from the on-site organic garden and fruit orchard. Unwind by the pool and enjoy beautiful views morning, noon, and night.
Day 2
Toucan Rescue Ranch Tour
Discover the unique stories of rescued toucans and other birds and animals, including two-toed and three-toed sloths, parrots, macaws, owls, kinkajous, a spider monkeys, rainforest porcupines, otters, and a hawk named Prince! Overnight Finca Rosa Blanca Coffee Plantation & Inn.

Day 3
Transfer to Arenal Nayara Hotel & Gardens, Arenal Volcano
Today you will transfer by ground approximately 3 hours to the Arenal Volcano, a region offering an abundance of exciting adventure opportunities! Arrive at Arenal Nayara Hotel & Gardens for overnight. Surrounded by rainforest, Arenal Nayara's tropical architecture seamlessly blends with stunning natural surroundings.

The Nayara Property is a natural habitat for sloths due to an abundance of sloth friendly vegetation. During your stay, you may ask the front desk for a "sloth viewing", where a member of the staff will take you through the grounds to spot wild sloths.
Day 4
Callidryas Sloth Tour
Experience the original tour of Arenal! Arenal is well-known for its diverse wildlife, including the two different Costa Rica sloth species: the two-toed sloth and three-toed sloth species. You'll have the opportunity to see toucans and blue jean dart frog. Birds, iguanas, and monkeys are among the animals that you might encounter. On the search for wildlife, your guide will drive you around the most beautiful spotting areas in La Fortuna! Overnight Arenal Nayara Hotel & Gardens.
Day 5
Hanging Bridges Hike & La Fortuna Waterfall Hike
Arenal Hanging Bridges is an ecotourism network of trails and bridges focused on the observations nd protection of nature. With 250 hectares of rainforest, this private nature reserve has a variety of wild birds, flowers, animals, and lush vegetation. Walk across hanging bridges overlooking the canopy led by a professional naturalist guide. The hike has eight fixed and six hanging bridges designed for beauty and safety. Don't miss the waterfall extension trail at the end of the hike!

Next, enjoy lunch before heading to La Fortuna Waterfall. Take in the view of the waterfall from the observation deck. Then, trek down 300 meters to the base of the waterfall down a steep, but paved path of stairs. At the waterfall's base, take photos and go for a swim at the water's edge. Day 6
Transfer to Tulemar Resort, Manuel Antonio
Today you will be met and driven to the local airport for a scenic flight to Quepos on the Central Pacific Coast. Upon arrival, you will be driven to Tulemar Resort outside Manuel Antonio National Park. Tulemar Resort is a unique home away from home surrounded by rainforest. Discover the property's small, private beach. On the way down, you may see monkeys, birds, and other wildlife!

Take the Sloth Institute tour, located right at Tulemar. You will be guided through the property looking for sloths as you learn from professionals working with the institute all about these adorable creatures. *Closed on Tuesdays.
Day 7
Manuel Antonio Free Day
Relax on the beach or plan additional tours in the area! Overnight Tulemar Resort.
Day 8
Manuel Antonio Free Day
Enjoy your last day in Costa Rica by the beach or pool! Don't forget to book a spa treatment. Overnight Tulemar Resort.
Day 9
Depart San Jose, Costa Rica
Today, transfer about 3 hours to the San Jose international airport for your afternoon departure.

Holiday season supplements apply for Christmas, New Years, Presidents Day, and Easter travel dates. Green season specials and/or lower rates may apply for May to November travel dates.

All itineraries are land only and international airfare is quoted separately. Itinerary adjustments may be necessary depending on your international flight schedule. For example a late arrival will usually require a night near the airport in San Jose.
