OVERVIEW

Our 9-night Off-Grid Caribbean vacation package will introduce you to the beauty of the Costa Rican jungle! Explore Cahuita National Park and the South Pacific Coast. Then, Spend two nights in Tortuguero, where the turtles come to nest.  Finally, don’t miss the beloved Monteverde Cloud Forest. This trip will show you the beauty and diversity of Costa Rica’s beloved jungle and rainforest.

DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1
Arrive Hotel Grano de Oro, San Jose
Upon arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica, you will transfer approximately 30 minutes to Hotel Grano de Oro for overnight. Conveniently set on a quiet side of the street of one of the city's main thoroughfares, Grano de Oro offers the comfort of a private home within reach of San Jose's dining shops, and other area attractions. The hotel restaurant is one of the best in the city, loved by locals and guests alike.
Day 2
Transfer to Aguas Claras Hotel, Caribbean Coast
Today you will be met and driven approximately 4 hours to Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean Coast, a combination of unspoiled beaches, jungles, and local flavors.

Arrive at Hotel Aguas Clars, a recently renovated boutique hotel with a collection of Victorian-style houses and suites, situated outside the eclectic beach town of Puerto Viejo. Each house incorporates Caribbean culture and local handcrafts for a truly unique stay.
Day 3
Cahuita Snorkeling & Rainforest Tour
Cahuita National Park has the largest system of coral reefs in the country with six species fo coral and a wide range of colorful tropical fishes and occasional harmless reef shark or stingray. The beach is horseshoe-shape with the entrance of the park at one end and beautiful Punta Cahuita at the other end. Your adventure begins with a 2-minute boat ride for two snorkeling sessions. After snorkeling, boat the beach to enjoy snacks and fruit followed by a one-hour guided hike looking for sloths, monkeys, birds, poison dart frogs, iguanas, and more. Overnight Hotel Aguas Claras.
Day 4
Caribbean Free Day
Relax at the pool, enjoy the beach at the hotel, or explore the Southern Caribbean beaches by foot, bike, or taxi. You can add tours in the area through the hotel concierge. Overnight Hotel Aguas Claras.
Day 5
Transfer to Tortuga Lodge, Tortuguero National Park
This morning you will be met and driven approximately 4 hours to Pavona, Tortuguero on the Northern Caribbean Coast. Tortuguero National Park features 11 different ecological habitats from high rainforest to marsh communities.

Arrive at Tortuga Lodge & Gardens for overnight. This laid-back lodge has a peaceful view looking out onto Tortuguero River with deluxe amenities.
Day 6
Tortuguero Free Day
Two on-site experiences are included in your stay. Many guests will choose to include a Morning Boat Tour in Tortuguero National Park:
After breakfast, leave the lodge by boat (shared with other guests) with your guide to explore the creeks of Tortuguero National Park. You might spot tropical birds, caimans, monkeys, and other inhabitants of these primitive jungle canals. The time of your scheduled tour may change depending on weather conditions and occupancy. Return to the lodge in time for lunch.

Day 7
Transfer to Monteverde Lodge, Monteverde
After breakfast transfer to the local airport for a short flight to San Jose. Upon arrival in San Jose, your driver will meet you for your transfer approximately 2 1/2 hours to Monteverde.

Arrive at Monteverde Lodge, one of the most well-known and distinctive lodges in the area. Enjoy comfortable rooms, a restaurant and bar, beautiful gardens, and a large Jacuzzi - fantastic for a long soak after a day's hike in the forest.
Day 8
Curi-Cancha Reserve Tour
Discover the Curi-Cancha Reserve which extends across 237 acres and protects primary and secondary forests. It's one of the region's best birding sits with orange-bellied trogons, keel-billed toucans, blue-crowned motmots, the resplendent quetzals, and blue-throated goldentails. The trails are well-maintained (although sometimes a bit muddy after rain) and extend for several kilometers. Overnight Monteverde Lodge.
Day 9
Aerial Tram & Trek Zipline Tour
The Sky Tram is a high-tech cableway designed to give participants spectacular views of the world-famous Monteverde Cloud Forest. Begin on a cableway where you will enjoy a bird's eye view of the forest. The Sky Tram ends at a platform where the zipline adventure takes off. This is one of the most extensive canopy zipline tours in the country with two very long cables and eleven cross-sectional cables. Zip through the treetops before enjoying panoramic views from two observation decks. Overnight Monteverde Lodge.
Day 10
Depart San Jose, Costa Rica
This morning you will be driven approximately 3 hours to San Jose international airport for your afternoon flight home.

Pricing is valid through the date listed for each itinerary (all pricing is subject to change until booked and confirmed). Holiday season supplements apply for Christmas, New Years, Presidents Day, and Easter travel dates. Green season specials and/or lower rates may apply for May to November travel dates.

All itineraries are land only and international airfare is quoted separately. Itinerary adjustments may be necessary depending on your international flight schedule. For example a late arrival will usually require a night near the airport in San Jose.
