Upon arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica you will be met and driven approximately 30 minutes to Heredia situated in the hills overlooking the Central Valley. Today you will be met and driven approximately 4 hours to Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean Coast.

Cahuita National Park has the largest system of coral reefs in Costa Rica, including six species of coral and a range of colorful tropical fish and occasionally the harmless reef shark or stingray. The beach has a horseshoe shape with the entrance of the park at one end and the beautiful Punta Cahuita at the other end. Your adventure begins with a scenic 20-minute boat ride for two snorkel sessions. After snorkeling, boat to the beach to enjoy fruit and snacks followed by a one-hour guided hike in the coastal forest. Depart for transfer by ground (with a stop for breakfast) to the river put-in point on the Pacuare River. Your river guides will help load your gear. Then, you'll paddle down the Pacuare gorge, rafting into the heart of the rainforest.
