Last month, Travel + Leisure released its ranking for The Top 100 Hotels in the World, a curation of some of the world’s most elite hotels pitted against one another. It’s always especially exciting for us when a Costa Rica hotel makes the list. This year, three very deserving Costa Rica hotels were on it. Truth be told, our Experts are well-traveled, even outside of Costa Rica. If we had it our way, we would have several others on this list as well. Alas, we were not the judges. Below were the three standouts that made the cut.
#2 Nayara Tented Camp, Arenal Volcano National Park, Costa Rica
Nayara Tented Camp is the latest addition to the Nayara brand. With top-of-the-line accommodations, it brings a new luxury safari-style glamping experience to the region. There’s nothing else like it in Arenal, and it’s also apparently noteworthy worldwide. Cliff-side safari tents with expensive tents and infinity plunge pools overlook Arenal Volcano and the rainforest. Hot spring-fed mineral pools, high-end dining, an open-air spa, and a plethora of wildlife (sloths, toucans, monkeys) only add to the experience.
#33 Nayara Gardens, Arenal Volcano National Park, Costa Rica
Nayara Gardens is one of the three hotels of the Nayara brand. The other, Nayara Springs, is also definitely worth looking into. The hotels share many of the same amenities like the spa, the lush wildlife-laden tropical gardens, and fine dining options. The Nayara Gardens private casitas and villas also have their own wrap-around terraces with Jacuzzis, outdoor rain showers, and oversized luxury bathrooms.
#79 Casa Chameleon, Mal Pais, Costa Rica
Set off-the-beaten-path on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula with access to pristine beaches and surrounded by lush tropical jungle, Casa Chameleon encapsulates barefoot luxury.
