Spend your first night at a luxury boutique hotel in San Jose before heading to Manatus Lodge on the jungle canals of Tortuguero National Park. After exploring the Amazon-like canals of Tortuguero, visit Lapa Rios Ecolodge, one of the Unique Lodges of the World in the National Geographic Collection. The lodge is located on 1000 acres of a private nature reserve in the remote rainforest of the Osa Peninsula surrounded by nature and abundant wildlife.


Day 1
Arrive San Jose, Costa Rica
Upon arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica, you will be met and transferred by ground to Grano de Oro Hotel. Grano de Oro is situated on a comfortable side street in bustling San Jose city. This intimate boutique hotel has all the comforts and luxuries of a private home with an outstanding European fusion restaurant located in the interior courtyard.
Day 2
Transfer to Tortuguero National Park
Today you will be met and driven approximately 4 hours stopping for breakfast. Arrive at a private dock where you'll depart for a scenic 2-hour jungle boat ride to Tortuguero National Park on the Nothern Caribbean Coast. The park features 11 unique ecosystems for wildlife watchers to enjoy. Arrive at Manatus Lodge located directly on the river. The lodge features upscale facilities, rooms, a restaurant, and a spa. Take lunch upon arrival. In the afternoon, visit the village of Tortuguero, the Caribbean Conservation Corporation's visitor center and the turtle museum.
Day 3
Tortuguero Free Day
Today, explore the jungle canals of Tortuguero by boat with a naturalist guide looking for flora and fauna. There are a variety of other excursions available from the lodge including fishing, kayaking, water bikes, birdwatching, and more. Overnight Manatus Lodge.
Day 4
Tortuguero Free Day
Free day to relax at the lodge or add-on tours. Overnight Manatus Lodge.
Day 5
Transfer to Puerto Jimenez, Osa Peninsula
Today, you will take a domestic flight from Tortuguero to Puerto Jimenez on the Osa Peninsula (with a layover in San Jose). Upon arrival, you will be met and driven approximately 45 minutes to Lapa Rios Ecolodge. This high-end eco-lodge is located on 1000 acres of private nature reserve in the lowland tropical rainforest. The lodge is situated high up on a cliff side with breezy private bungalows and stunning views over the rainforest out to the ocean. Some mild hiking is required to get around the resort. Please advise an expert if you have physical limitations. The rest of your day is free to relax and enjoy the lodge.
Day 6
Osa Peninsula Free Day
A variety of guided tours are available on-site. When you arrive, talk to the concierge about what activities are available in the weekly activity schedule. Overnight Lapa Rios Ecolodge.
Day 7
Osa Peninsula Free Day
Take a morning tour from the lodge like the early bird's guided walk to look for scarlet macaws, hawks, and the like. In the afternoon, lounge by the pool or take a walk down to the beach. Overnight Lapa Rios Ecolodge.
Day 8
Osa Peninsula Free Day
Take a morning surf lesson, schedule a boat tour on the Gulfo Dulce, or book a day trip to the famous nearby Corcovado National Park (for an additional cost). Overnight Lapa Rios Ecolodge.
Day 9
Depart San Jose, Costa Rica
Today you will be met and transferred by ground to the San Jose International Airport for your return flight home.

Holiday season supplements apply for Christmas, New Years, Presidents Day, and Easter travel dates. Green season specials and/or lower rates may apply for May to November travel dates.

All itineraries are land only and international airfare is quoted separately. Itinerary adjustments may be necessary depending on your international flight schedule. For example a late arrival will usually require a night near the airport in San Jose.
