Trip Overview:
Daily Itinerary
Day 1
Transfer to Hotel Central, Panama City
Upon arrival in Panama City, meet your driver fortransfer approximately 25 minutes to Central Hotel for overnight. Central Hotel is located in the charming historic district of Casco Viejo. Central Hotel was the first hotel in Panama at the time it opened in 1874. Its guestrooms and suites are tastefully appointed with Panamanian-style furnishings, offering the perfect blend of colonial-era charm and modern comfort. It has been recognized by UNESCO for its significance within Casco Viejo, a World Heritage Site in Panama City. Central Hotel has undergone full renovations to preserve the facade and original structure.
Day 2
Half-Day Panama City Tour & Miraflores Locks Visitor Center
First you will visit the “Casco Antiguo” or Old Quarter – the city built in 1673 after the “Old Panama” was looted and burned. The predominant architectural style of the Casco Antiguo is a combination of Italian, French and Spanish colonial. You will have the opportunity to visit some churches – including the famous Golden Altar which survived the plundering and destruction of pirate Morgan, and different parks and plazas while you learn about the history of the city. Next, you will visit the emblematic Panama Canal. Visiting the Miraflores Locks visitor center makes it possible to learn about the history and the daily operation of the canal. This visitor center has three main attractions: The museum, the audiovisual presentation, and the lookout point where it’s possible to observe the ships passing through each one of the chambers.
Day 3
Aerial Tram & Gatun Lake Expedition
The tour starts with a peaceful gondola ride, which ascends 280 feet over half a mile and ends at a spectacular viewpoint. Accompanied by a naturalist guide, once you get to the observation tower you will have the opportunity to enjoy the most amazing views of the Panama Canal, Chagres River, and much of the Soberania National Park. Next you will continue to Gatun Lake, the longest artificial lake in Panama – with an area of 166 square miles, and constitutes a major part of the Panama Canal. During a 45 min ride (approx..), you will explore some of the islands formed after the creation of the lake. With the help your guide, you might have the opportunity to observe crocodiles, caimans, sloths, iguanas, monkeys and a host of birds native to the area. Finally, you will have a 45-minute visit to the ecological exhibitions, which is an excellent opportunity to learn about the most interesting creatures and plants of the Panamanian forest. The three exhibits available are the butterfly farm, frog garden and orchid nursery.
Day 4

This morning you will transfer 30 minutes to the domestic airport in Panama City for a short and scenic flight to David. Upon arrival you will transfer by ground 45 minutes to Boca Chica.
