With miles of beaches, many tourists come to Costa Rica and never venture from the coast.  You, however, are far more fascinated in Costa Rica’s natural wonders! On our 8 night Natural Wonders of Costa Rica vacation package, you’ll start with an exploration of the central highlands of Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui. A slightly more challenging hike will bring you to the Rio Celeste River and waterfall, where the water runs a brilliant blue because of natural minerals found in the volcanic earth. Lastly, explore the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, where a hike will bring you to the crater – and some of the most picturesque views in Costa Rica.



Day 1
Transfer to Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, Costa Rica
Upon your morning or midday arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica transfer about 2 hours to the Selva Verde Lodge, your gateway into an adventure! Selva Verde is half lodge, half rainforest preserve - the 500+ acres surrounding the lodge are amazing for the curious! The lodge provides easy access to the myriad wonders of the Costa Rican rainforest. Exciting activities, a stunning background, and a focus on sustainability make the Selva Verde Lodge stand out.
Day 2
La Selva Biological Station
For nearly half a century, La Selva Biological Station has been attracting tropical researchers. This living laboratory protects over 3500 acres of untouched rainforest, This pristine wilderness contains a wealth of flora and fauna diversity, making it a popular choice for everyone from birders to wildlife enthusiasts! Day 3
Cinco Ceibas Adventure Park
The Cinco Ceibas Adventure Park covers 1100 hectares of private reserve, including 600 of primary forest. This morning, visit the only elevated boardwalk in Costa Rica. After lunch, there are several options available: a guided kayak trip down the Rio Cuarto, horseback ride through the rainforest, or take an ox cart tour to view the beautiful gardens and talk about the region's history. Day 4
Transfer to Arenal Volcano region
Today, transfer about 2 hours to the Arenal Volcano, the most recognizable of Costa Rica's many volcanoes. Currently in a resting phase, it acts as the adventure capital of the country. Featuring beautiful Arenal Volcano views and natural hot springs, Hotel Arenal Manoa's tropical flora and fauna create an ambiance of relaxation. The nearby town of La Fortuna is vibrant and friendly, offering a wide variety of cultural and foodie tours.
Day 5
Don Juan Farm Tour
Today visit the farm of Don Juan. This organic farm produces over 30 types of fruits and vegetables, with a focus on the sustainable use of the country's natural resources. This educational tour introduces you to the rural life, with an opportunity to learn how to harvest fresh fruits and vegetables to make into drinks. Lunch or dinner will feature a variety of the farm's produce. Overnight Hotel Arenal Manoa.
Day 6
Rio Celeste Waterfall & Tenorio Volcano National Park Tour
Rio Celeste is one of the most wonderful places to observe the flora and fauna of Costa Rica. At the park entrance, you will start a challenging hike through the primary forest. During your tour, you will visit a magnificent waterfall and take a moment to enjoy the hot water springs (swimming in dry season only). Overnight Hotel Arenal Manoa.
Day 7
Transfer to Rincon de la Vieja, Guanacaste
Today, transfer about 3 1/2 hours to the Hotel Borinquen. For rustic comfort, amazing mountain views, and sunsets that paint the sky, Hotel Borinquen is the place to be. Even better are the natural thermal springs and steam rooms. Guests can take advantage of the touted health properties of both the mineral-rich water and the volcanic mud either by relaxing in a pool or planning a day at Hotel Borinquen's luxurious Anahuac Spa.
Day 8
Rincon de la Vieja Crater Hike
Discover the magnificent beauty of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano National Park. Upon arriving to the Park you can start your hike to the crater or visit one of the splendid waterfalls. Rincon de la Vieja National Park offers plenty to see!. During the dry season a wide variety of trees lose their leaves and bloom in different colors and when the rains begin everything turns as green as in the rainforest. The volcano is active, and the hills are covered with both wet and dry forests that hide lakes, rivers, waterfalls and an abundance of wildlife. Don't forget a camera - once you reach the crater, you'll be amazed by the view! Overnight Hotel Borinquen.
Day 9
Depart Liberia, Costa Rica
This morning or afternoon, transfer approximately 1 hour to Liberia International Airport for your return flight home.

All itineraries are land only and international airfare is quoted separately. Itinerary adjustments may be necessary depending on your international flight schedule. For example a late arrival will usually require a night near the airport in San Jose.
