DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1
Transfer to Poas Volcano Lodge, Cloud Forest
Upon arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica you will be met and transferred by ground approximately 1 hour to the cloud forest outside Poas Volcano National Park for overnight at Poas Volcano Lodge. Experience rural Costa Rica at this authentic mountain lodge amid 20 acres of gardens.
Day 2
Freddo Farm Rural Adventure
This two hour tour will bring you through Freddo Farm with beautiful views of rural landscapes. Discover the rural customs, traditions, and local farming practices that have shaped this region. Visit the Viewpoint of Colossus for an incredible view of Poas Volcano. Then, explore the Forest Trail on a 300 meter path of secondary cloud forest and its unique ecosystem. Next up, go on The Strawberries Tour. Walk through the fields, collect, and taste the strawberries with a local guide. Then, visit the cows in The Milking Stalls before takinga cheese tour in the Factory of Artisan Cheese, where you will discover the cheese making process and try your favorites. Wrap up your visit at Bar de la Leche with a strawberry-based beverage or coffee and a gorgeous view of Poas and Barva Volcanoes. Overnight Poas Volcano Lodge.
Day 3
Transfer to Chayote Lodge, Central Highlands
Today you will be met and transferred by ground approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours to Chayote Lodge in Naranjo, Costa Rica. Explore the rural wonders of the Central Highlands from this coffee-inspired boutique lodge. Chayote Lodge blends Costa Rican culture, coffee, and style into their hospitality.
Day 4
Naranjo Coffee & Town Tour
Today you will visit the home of some of the finest coffees in the world, Naranjo. Stop at Espiritu Santo for a coffee tour, where you will learn how coffee is made from the seeds to the cup. See the colorful produce at Municipal Market before grabbing lunch at the market. Visit the Bascilica of Lady of Piedades, reconstructed after several earthquakes in the 1940's. Discover the work of Carias, a local artisan nationally recognized for his statues of religious saints and leaders that decorate churches throughout Costa Rica. Visit a private home where the manicured gardens of bromeliads and orchid are the pride of the family. On the way back to Chayote Lodge, enjoy a fresh cup of Costa Rican coffee in the private home of Don Carlos. Overnight Chayote Lodge.
Day 5
Zarcero & Bajos del Toro Town Tour
The day begins at La Palmita, a shop famous for its locally made treats and flowers. Continue to Parque Francisco Alvarado, home of the beautiful and unique topiary gardens. Meet Don Lista, the gardener for the last 50 years, who will demonstrate how to shape cypress trees. Next, visit Iglesia de San Rafael, one of Costa Rica's most beautiful churches. A scenic drive will then bring you to a local farm at Palmira and Pueblo Nuevo, where potatoes, onions, cabbage and other produce are cultivated. Last, stop in Bajos del Toro town, where forested clear blue rivers will complement your morning of discoveries. Lunch is served a local "soda" where you can tour the kitchen and discover how food is prepared in the Costa Rican countryside. Overnight Chayote Lodge.
Day 6
Transfer to Santa Juana Lodge, Fila Chonta Mountains
Today you will be met and transferred by ground approximately 4 hours to Santa Juana Lodge in the Fila Chonta Mountains. Located in the rural community of a tiny farming town, Santa Juana Lodge offers a variety of immersive experiences from tree-house style private casitas overlooking the coastline and mountain range.
Day 7
Santa Juana Mountain Tour
Take a hike to a refreshing waterfall, and look for wildlife with a professional guide. Visit an authentic sugar mill powered by oxen or try Tilapia fishing. Explore a rustic Santa Juana pueblo and take part in a Carbon Offset Tree Planting Adoption Program. Finally, enjoy a campesino-style lunch. Overnight Santa Juana Lodge.
Day 8
Manuel Antonio National Park Hike
Today you will visit the Central Pacific Coast of Costa Rica for a hike through Manuel Antonio National Park, one of the smallest and most popular parks in Costa Rica. The park is a rainforest on the coast with abundant wildlife and 3 gorgeous white sand beaches. A professional naturalist guide will introduce the ecosystem that lives here and point out some of the 109 known mammal and 184 known bird species that call Manuel Antonio home. Day 9
Transfer to Hotel Alta, San Jose
Today you will be met and transferred by ground approximately 3 hours to Alta Hotel in Escazu overlooking the capital city of San Jose and the Central Valley. This 23 room boutique hotel is decorated with black and white photos of Costa Rica's rich European inspired coffee culture in the 1920's.
Day 10
Depart San Jose, Costa Rica
Transfer to the San Jose International Airport for your return flight home.

Pricing is valid through the date listed for each itinerary (all pricing is subject to change until booked and confirmed). Holiday season supplements apply for Christmas, New Years, Presidents Day, and Easter travel dates. Green season specials and/or lower rates may apply for May to November travel dates.

All itineraries are land only and international airfare is quoted separately. Itinerary adjustments may be necessary depending on your international flight schedule. For example a late arrival will usually require a night near the airport in San Jose.
