DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1
Transfer to Hotel Grano de Oro, San Jose
Upon your arrival in San Jose, meet your driver for a 30 minute transfer by ground to Hotel Grano de Oro. Nestled on a serene side street just off the bustling arteries of the city, this cherished hotel provides the warmth and intimacy of a personal residence while remaining in close proximity to San Jose's vibrant dining, shopping, and entertainment hubs. Renowned among guests and locals, the hotel's dining establishment stands out as one of the city's premier culinary destinations, promising an exceptional gastronomic experience.
Day 2
Transfer to Aguila de Osa Inn, Drake Bay
This morning you will transfer to the airport in San Jose. Check in for a short flight to Drake Bay on the remote Osa Peninsula. Transfer by ground and boat at Aguila de Osa Inn for overnight. The lodge sits at the convergence of the Aguijitas River and Drake Bay, nestled amidst the lush tropical rainforest. Elevated above the river's edge, the rooms boast airy interiors with mesh windows that invite in the gentle tropical breeze. In the evenings, unwind with happy hour at the bar and savor family-style meals in the alfresco restaurant. Guests can freely explore the waterways with complimentary kayaks and embark on rainforest hikes to discover secluded beaches nearby. *Kindly ensure to wear easily removable or waterproof footwear, as boat access involves wading through knee-deep water.
Day 3
Corcovado National Park Guided Tour via La Sirena Station
This morning, embark on a scenic boat ride lasting 45 minutes to an hour, transporting you to the entrance of Corcovado National Park, a sanctuary spanning over 100,000 acres and harboring numerous endangered species. Venture into the pristine tropical rainforest, where an array of tropical birds, butterflies, insects, and diverse monkey and sloth species await your discovery. After a refreshing snack at the ranger station, embark on another trail leading to a secluded waterfall, offering the chance for a revitalizing dip, weather permitting. Conclude your adventure with a return boat journey to the lodge, where a delicious lunch awaits. Rest and rejuvenate at Aguila de Osa Inn for the night.
Day 4
Cano Island
Experience the wonders of the Cano Island Biological Reserve with a captivating snorkeling tour. A hotspot for SCUBA diving and snorkeling, the island boasts encounters with majestic marine life, including humpback whales from December to April and manta rays from February to June. Embark on a scenic 45-minute boat journey to Cano Island, where you'll immerse yourself in Costa Rica's finest snorkeling spots. Following your aquatic adventure, indulge in a delightful picnic lunch before returning by boat. Spend the night at Aguila de Osa Inn. (Certified divers have the option to partake in a full-day SCUBA diving tour at an additional fee).
Day 5
Drake Bay Free Day
Explore the enchanting Drake Trail, meandering through the lodge and unveiling secluded beaches along the picturesque coastline. Keep an eye out for monkeys, Scarlet macaws, and diverse wildlife as you traverse this scenic route! Guests can also enjoy complimentary kayaks for venturing through the lodge's surrounding waterways. For additional adventures and tours, seek assistance from the lodge concierge. Day 6
Transfer to Playa Cativo Rainforest Lodge, Puerto Jimenez
Today you will be met and transferred to Playa Cativo, Puerto Jimenez. Upon your arrival, embark on a scenic boat transfer across the serene Golfo Dulce to reach Playa Cativo Rainforest Lodge for your overnight stay. Accessible solely by boat, Playa Cativo is situated amidst the peaceful waters of Golfo Dulce and the lush rainforest of Piedras Blancas National Park. Delight in an unparalleled experience of paradise and unforgettable wildlife encounters in this exceptional and luxurious destination!
Day 7
Piedras Blancas National Park Hike (San Josecito Trail)
For the adventurous hiker seeking longer and more challenging trails, embark on a journey to the higher elevations of Piedras Blancas National Park. Begin at the north entrance of the park, El Bonito Ranger station, accessible via boat and car rides. The 4km hike kicks off with a stop at a scenic lookout point for a refreshing snack before continuing onto the San Josecito trail, a 6km trek across steep slopes culminating at Golfo Dulce. Please note, this hike is physically demanding with a high difficulty level and is not recommended for children under 12 years old. Overnight Playa Cativo Rainforest Lodge.
Day 8
Rio Esquinas Mangrove Kayaking
Located just a stone's throw from Playa Cativo, you'll find one of Costa Rica's most expansive and unspoiled river systems. Its varied landscape offers exceptional birdwatching opportunities, particularly during the serene moments of sunrise and sunset when the mudflats teem with aquatic birdlife. Setting off from the river mouth, our kayak adventure begins with a tranquil journey through breathtaking mangrove and rainforest vistas, allowing you to immerse yourself in the wonders of nature. Day 9
Puerto Jimenez Free Day
Discover the wonders of Golfo Dulce with a kayak adventure or opt for a self-guided hike along the trails of Playa Cativo. Day 10
Depart San Jose, Costa Rica
This morning, transfer by boat back to Puerto Jimenez where you will depart for a short domestic flight to San Jose. Upon arrival, connect to the San Jose international airport for your afternoon departure.

Pricing is valid through the date listed for each itinerary (all pricing is subject to change until booked and confirmed). Holiday season supplements apply for Christmas, New Years, Presidents Day, and Easter travel dates. Green season specials and/or lower rates may apply for May to November travel dates.

All itineraries are land only and international airfare is quoted separately. Itinerary adjustments may be necessary depending on your international flight schedule. For example a late arrival will usually require a night near the airport in San Jose.
