DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1
Dec 29: Transfer to San Jose, Costa Rica
Upon arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica you will transfer to the Costa Rica Marriott Hotel for overnight. This beautiful colonial hacienda is set on a 30-acre coffee plantation surrounded by the Central Valley's mountains. The hotel features an exercise room with weight room, nature trails, three tennis courts, a driving range a golf shop.
Day 2
Dec 30: Transfer to Drake Bay, Osa Peninsula
This morning, transfer to the San Jose domestic airport for the short flight to Drake Bay on the remote Osa Peninsula. Upon arrival, you will be met and driven to Aguila de Osa Inn for overnight. Between the Pacific Ocean and the rainforest, Aguila de Osa Inn is a secluded eco-lodge. The rooms enjoy refreshing tropical breezes from open-air windows with protective mesh screens. Throughout your stay, enjoy fresh family-style meals in their open-air restaurant.
Day 3
Dec 31: Full Day Guided Corcovado National Park Hike
This morning, take a boat ride to the entrance of Corcovado National Park, which protects more than 100,000 acres of forest and many of Costa Rica's endangered species. Hike through the park with a naturalist guide looking for tropical birds, butterflies, monkeys, sloths, and more. Cool off with a refreshing waterfall swim before heading back to Aguila de Osa Inn for overnight
Day 4
Jan 1: Cano Island Biological Reserve Snorkeling Tour
One of the best destinations for snorkeling and diving among big fish (like white tip sharks and bull sharks) is Cano Island. Beginning in December, humpback whales can be seen in the area. A guide will bring you to the best snorkeling spots around the island and share more information about the marine life of the area. Certified divers can substitute a full day of diving for an additional cost. Overnight Aguila de Osa Inn.
Day 5
Jan 2: Transfer to Arenal / La Fortuna
Today you will take a flight back to San Jose, where you will be driven approximately 3 hours to Arenal Kioro Hotel located in the Arenal / La Fortuna region of Costa Rica. The hotel is situated on a hillside located directly below the volcano with incredible views of Arenal Volcano and the surrounding valley.
Day 6
Jan 3: Aerial Tram & Trek Zipline
Take the sky aerial tram up through the treetops to a wide observation platform with panoramic views of Arenal Volcano, Lake Arenal, and the Tilaran Mountain Range. From the observation deck, depart on the sky trek zipline. The zipline features 8 cross-sectional cables with a combined length of 4.5 miles. Distances range between 100 and 2460 feet, and a maximum height of 660 feet. Overnight Arenal Kioro Hotel.
Day 7
Jan 4: Rio Balsa Whitewater Rafting Class II-III
The Balsa River has a range of Class III paddlers for both experienced and first-time paddlers. For the first half of the river, there are continuous class III rapids with small pools in between. For the second half of the river, the rapids are more spread out and less intense - a great opportunity to look for wildlife along the river bank! Enjoy the wild thrill of the rapids and take a refreshing swim in the pools in between to cool off. Overnight Arenal Kioro Hotel.
Day 8
Jan 5: Pure Trek Canyoning & Mountain Biking
The morning starts with waterfall rappelling, a canyon wall, Monkey drop (zip line and rappel), and rock climbing all in a spectacular rainforest canyon. Then, take a short hike out of the canyon and head back to the Pure Trek headquarters and gardens for a delicious Costa Rican lunch. After lunch, begin your mountain biking adventure from the base of Arenal Volcano! Ride through the forest and along Lake Arenal to a small local village called El Castillo. Enjoy views of Arenal Volcano and look for wildlife along the road like monkeys, toucans, coatis, kingfishers, and egrets. End your adventure with a picnic snack on the shores of Lake Arenal and take a refreshing swim in the lake! Overnight Arenal Kioro Hotel.
Day 9
Jan 6: Depart San Jose, Costa Rica
Today you will be met and transferred by ground approximately 2.5 hours to the Liberia International Airport for your return flight home.

Holiday season supplements apply for Christmas, New Years, Presidents Day, and Easter travel dates. Green season specials and/or lower rates may apply for May to November travel dates.

All itineraries are land only and international airfare is quoted separately. Itinerary adjustments may be necessary depending on your international flight schedule. For example a late arrival will usually require a night near the airport in San Jose.
