![]() SOUTHERN PACIFIC: The stretch of coastline from Dominical to Ojochal, known as the Costa Ballena, is quickly becoming the hottest destination in Costa Rica. In this area you will find several small surf towns with great restaurants, numerous pristine beaches for swimming or surfing, virgin tropical rain forest with excellent opportunities for hiking and wildlife observation, whale watching (in season), snorkeling, wild waterfalls, flowing rivers for white water rafting, sea cave kayaking and sport fishing. Marino Ballena National Park offers one of the most fascinating natural wonders in Costa Rica – during low tide you can walk out on the sandbar to a rocky point that forms a natural whale’s tale with spectacular beaches on both sides. The Marino Ballena National Park was developed to protect the humpback whales that frequent the coast. Cano Island is about 1 hour away by boat offering some of the best scuba diving on the Pacific Coast with daily dolphin sightings. Further down the coast Corcovado National Park (accessible on a full day tour) is considered by National Geographic as having the greatest concentration of biodiversity on the planet. Climate: Dry Dec-Apr, Green May-Nov. |
